A rare early 20th century phulkari from the Punjab region of Pakistan. Wheat designs are embroidered in yellow silk thread on a dark brick red, homespun cotton ground. This would have been worn as part of wedding regalia. Phulkari literally means floral craft and was also the word used for embroidery.
